2008 Sign-up Information

The sign up process takes about 20-30 minutes. It is run by 1 or 2 core group volunteers and can therefore sometimes have a line. (This is a good time to order a coffee, beer, sangria, appetizer, whatever, and read some literature while you wait your turn…) Sign up involves some paperwork and an $100 deposit, determining a payment plan (some low-income and extended payment plans available; email williamsburgcsa@gmail.com for info.), selecting a volunteer workshift, and paying an administration fee.

Thanks to Silent h, Zipi Zape, Enids, Café Grumpy, & The Brooklyn Kitchen for being such gracious hosts during the 2008 sign up season!

What you need to bring to Sign Up & What you should expect:

  • $100 deposit.
    • You may pay in full or put down a larger deposit if you so desire. Various low income and extended payment plans are available, but majority of members pay in full by March 31 or June 1.
  • Cash or check accepted.
    • Payments for your CSA share should be made out to 'Garden of Eve Farm.'
    • Payments are process through the GWCSA only and should be mailed to:
Be aware that there could be (and most likely will be) up to a month’s lag time between handing us your check and it showing up on your bank statement. If this lag in deposit time makes your accounting a mess or creates a problem for you, we recommend paying by cash or money order.
      • It is totally safe to pay by cash; we have spiffy receipts which make cash payments a viable, stress free option.
  • $10 administration fee.
    • Cash or separate check accepted.
    • Admin fee will be made out to the 'Greenpoint-Williamsburg CSA'.
    • Admin pays for printing, scales and other distribution equipment, etc.
  • Donations
    • If you would like to make a donation to our Low Income Scholarship Fund & our Soup Kitchen Deliveries, we are collecting contributions at all times during the year. Send them to the GWCSA mailbox (located at the FedEx store on Bedford) 190 Bedford Ave, #227 Brooklyn NY 11211
    • Donations may always be added to the admin check or sent in at any time during the year. We also host several benefits during the year.
    • We are always raising funds to support our donations to the local Greenpoint soup kitchen and subsidized shares offered through various community groups in the neighborhood. Typically, the GWCSA is matched with our scholarship members through local churches, senior centers, and community groups.
  • Emails for ALL of your share members.
    • Email is our major form of communication. It is important for communication that we have everyone's email address
  • Pick out a volunteer workshift
    • It is a good to have an idea of your personal calendar so that you can easily pick your volunteer shifts. Share families share the required workshifts.
    • Members may volunteer to help more than just their required workshift
    • Saturday and Wednesday distributions have differing volunteer requirements due to their differing sizes and logistical differences.
  • Distribution Schedule
    • Half share members will receive a distribution schedule. It is a good idea to know your availability and have a general idea of what weeks will work for you.
